I ended the previous post with these Ranau Kadazandusun costumes, so let’s continue with the rest of the photos, shall we?
*As usual, those pics of which costumes that I don’t know, it’ll be without captions! Hard to concentrate on what the emcee was saying AND take the pics lah! Something I have to concentrate on in the future! *
The Murut warrior!
The Papar Kadazandusun costume
The Penampang Kadazandusun costume.. doing the Sumazau dance
Doing the Umang Ting Ting dance
This girl is clearly my favourite for that night. See how cute she is with her Murut costume!!
A close-up of another girl with a Murut costume doing the sumazau
The kids with the bamboo stilts (the men Murut costume)
The Murut girls doing the magunatip
I guess these boys (in charge of the gongs) were awed by the magunatip dance as well..?
Okay guys, you know the drill.. stay tuned for Part 4!
Okay, before I continue, I must mention that I don’t have the itinerary for that night, so I forgot each dances’ name. Just enjoy the pics lah ah!
The VVIPs were then invited to go on stage to officiate the launching..
Say Cheese! Sabah’s TYT and Chief Minister
I reeeeaaally thought I had gotten at least 1 pic of him hitting the gong (and not mid air), but I was wrong!
Oh well..
Now on to the traditional dances pics! (I’m gonna TRY to identify the costumes with my memory.. correct me if I’m wrong! And to those I don’t know will just be left without captions!)
The Bajau costume.. doing the Kudapasu dance
The Dusun Tindal (Kota Belud) costumes
Doing the Mongigol dance
Very colourful, aren’t they?
The Semporna Bajau costumes
Doing the Igal Tabawan dance
The Ranau Kadazandusun costume, and they’re doing the Medtemu dance
Did you guys attend KK’s Freeze World Earth Day at Citymall last night? I’m so glad I did!
I’ve actually read about this Freeze World Earth Day event from some KL bloggers. They had the KL Freeze in Unison event recently. And last night, another Freeze event was held at Sunway Pyramid, which was widely publicized (in blogs as well as radio stations).
The person who’s behind the KK’s Freeze World Earth Day, Edgar!
So Edgar thought it would be nice to have one here in KK as well, in conjunction with the Freeze event at Sunway Pyramid! Clever guys!
WC is currently outstation, so I couldn’t really decide on whether to go to this event or not, but know a lot of other bloggers will be there as well, I thought, heck, I should join and blog about this cool event, too!
Me and schoolmate, Elaine, whom I haven’t seen in a LONG time!
Me and a few friends had met up with Elaine before the event started, and we convinced her to join in as well. Oh, and we also invited ezooone to come too!
misslamau giving us a pose before the event started
Radzie and his yummylicous-ly new Canon 450D. That camera just makes you wanna drool! It’s so nice!!
And he was clever enough to bring his tripod along! The rest of us didn’t! Argh!!
The crowd before the event started (it’s as if some of them are already practicing their frozen poses, huh?)
The DJ was there to inform everyone about the event as well, and did a countdown!
Come 8pm, the event started!
And quite a lot of people joined in and froze!
ezooone and the rest in action, or should I say, in their poses!
And another one! (they guy smiled here and yet on amie’s post, he didn’t! Gotcha! lol..)
Didn’t manage to take a lot of the pics from Ground Floor, because I spent to much time taking pics on the First Floor!
This is how it looked like from First Floor! They all froze for the whole 5 minutes, and quite a lot of passerby just passed by them! Some even took pics of those ‘frozen’!
When the 5 minutes ended, everybody cheered and clapped! The first KK Freeze World Earth Day done!! Whoopeeeeee!
And as usual, group pic of those who participated! (some had already left as soon as the event was over though)
As one of the self-made photographer for this event, I was very disappointed that the 5 minutes ended very fast! I spent too much time on First Floor, where I should’ve spent more time on the Ground Floor itself! Arghhhhh! But oh well. Learned my lesson. I know what to do now next year!
Update: Impedius did an excellent job in documenting this event in video! Watch it here!
Am still coughing all the time, and today, I had a bonus: Miss Migraine came and visit as well (of all the days), and refused to leave until the evening! So basically I was in bed all day long, with my head feeling as heavy as a bowling ball and eyes felt like being stabbed. Was pure torture. Had to take painkillers just before WC takes me out for dinner (luckily he’s back from outstation, as parents are away for the weekend and bro’s in China).
We ate for the first time at Jeff D’ Corner, a place that supposedly have the best steak and BBQ lamb in the whole of Kota Kinabalu. And my verdict? Riiiiiiight. Obviously a personal opinion when they said this. Because I don’t agree. And I’ll explain why.
My lamb chop and WC’s Mixed Grill (excuse the pic quality; used my cameraphone as I forgotten to bring my camera)
I can’t argue about the BBQ lamb yet (one of their signature dishes, I guess), because neither of us have tried it, but I ordered the Lamb Chop (RM11), and WC ordered the Mixed Grill (RM17). We were surprised that the food came quickly after we ordered (plus sign!), but I was a bit disappointed that the lamb portion was small (though they did try to make it up by having more stuff on the side dishes).
After having my first bite on the lamb, I was disappointed again. Not to say that it wasn’t delicious; it was more like.. nothing special to it. I guess after having heard that they serve the best steak and bla bla, both our expectations were high. But nope, we weren’t impressed with the taste of the food, what more of the portion (so little). Even after finishing my food, I still wasn’t full! WTF!
So yeah. We’d very much prefer Archies D’ Corner or Harris D’ Corner (portion-wise) or JJ Western Food (best value-for-money) any day as compared to Jeff D’ Corner. But don’t get me wrong people, Jeff D’ Corner still serve good food (and the waitress was SO nice to us, another plus sign!), but in our opinion, WC and I both think that it was just like any other normal steak eating place in KK; nothing memorable about the food, sorry to say (though the environment is okay.. not that hot). Maybe if we had tried the BBQ lamb, then we’d probably change our opinion..?
Okay anywayy..
Grabbed this pic of me from the Sony Alpha forum just now. Hehe.. Pirut took this pic of me playing with the 75-300mm telephoto lens during our TT Session. I’m sure this lens would come in handy one day, but for now, I don’t need any telephoto lens just yet. But me likey this pic, though!

**Will not be putting Jeff D’ Corner post into my food blog as I’m not impressed with it
