Shabu-Shabu Galore

Hi guys! If you're new here, you should subscribe to my RSS feed. TQ for visiting! :)

I just love shabu-shabu; how about you guys??

Had dinner at SM Shabu-Shabu at Damai with the siblings last night, and I just love how you get to cook your own meal right in front of you, and straightaway eat it!

And since there were 4 of us, we of course took this opportunity and ordered a lot, since the 4 of us are such big eaters!

Shabu-shabu galore!

In case you don’t know what Shabu-Shabu is, it’s a Japanese dish consisting of raw meat (usually paper-thin slices of beef) and raw vegetables cooked by each diner at the table in a pot of hot broth.

Sure, after you eat, your shirt smells something like those poorly ventilated kitchen (you are the one doing the cooking after all, LOL.. ), but if you just want to take your time having your meal, then Shabu-shabu is definitely something you should try out once in a while! Go ahead; I’m sure you’ll enjoy it! :)

Small talk: Or maybe if you would like to try out the real thing, then you should check out some travel deals to see get the cheapest air fare to Japan to try out their original Shabu-Shabu, huh?

Lunch @ Mango

** Continuation of Ooh! A Photoshoot post **

As was said in my previous post, I went to lunch with the siblings, as well as with Madelyne after her photoshoot, and the venue of choice was none other than Mango!

These are what the 4 of us ordered:

Prawn Dish
Pic quality not to nice here.. guess settings not right

Big bro ordered this super delicious prawn dish (forgot what it’s called.. argh!). Spicy and sweet at the same time! OMG it’s so yummy! Will definitely try this dish again! (if I can remember which dish it was lah haha)

Pineapple Fried Rice
Mandy & younger bro ordered this: Pineapple Fried Rice.. yummm..

Omelette Fried Rice
And this is mine: Omelette Fried Rice. Yummy as well!

Chicken & Seafood Glassnoodle Salad
And this Chicken & Seafood Glassnoodle Salad was recommended by Johnboy himself, OMG I really love it! Love the taste of the small prawns in it! Very, very yummy! Will definitely order this again the next time we go there!

Mango Pudding
And this is Mandy’s half eaten Mango Pudding (she only reminded me to take a pic halfway eating lol..). And since I’m a fan of Mango Pudding, I hafta tried it as well, and it’s yummy as well. Light in texture, with bits of real mango in it.

** Am blogging this at 4.30 in the morning, and looking at the food makes me hungry again! Haha..

Pitstop: The Italian Fast Food

Remember my post about the opening of the Thai Inspired eatery? (click HERE if you haven’t read it).. Well, that same night after that event, Amie and I (along with our men and Lil’ Miss H) attended another eatery opening, this time it’s Amie’s friend’s new food joint called Pitstop, located at the brand new KK Times Square. (you won’t be able to see it from the main highway; this eatery is facing the rest of the KK Times Square building)

Pitstop: The Italian Fast Food! Cool, huh?

pitstop2
How the inside looks like, with drinks like wine and beer and soft drinks were served

Now I’m not sure what it means, exactly, but hey.. good Italian food that you can get in a jiffy? Sounds good enough to me! No need to know the rest! LOL..

pitstop4
A variety of pizzas and other dishes were served. Not sure about the prices though.. maybe you guys can tell me about when you drop by there?

pitstop5
Even though I was stuffed, this is what I had that night. All were yummy! I especially love the tuna pizza! Yum yum..

pitstop7
Look! Fellow bloggers like Marilyn and Ms.Lamau were also there!

pitstop8
Before we all left, we had a session of group pics! Fun!

So if you’re near (or maybe work in) KK Times Square, then you should definitely drop by Pitstop to get your yummy food in a jiffy!

Interesting Experience @ Sushi King KK

** Before you go on reading this, please know that this post is not for bashing this eatery. I’m just sharing my experience. Maybe I’m just unlucky when it comes to this eatery, huh? Hmmm… **

I guess a lot of you know that Sushi King is now opened at 1Borneo, right?

So me and friends went to check them out last night, since everybody raved about its cheap sushi. I personally wasn’t too keen on going there though, since the only time I went to Sushi King was when I was at Mid Valley and the whole family had a bad experience with the food there.

But without thinking about any bad things, I excitedly ordered the food, a few sushi and my main course, Black Pepper Udon:

It wasn’t how I imagined it would taste like at all. It was too sweet for my personal liking. I gave up after a few tries and switched dishes with WC. Poor him had to eat them anyway even he himself didn’t like it..

Also, see the red thread on the pic above near the chicken? Yeah.. a piece of thread on my food. Great. I just let it go, but friends helped me out and informed the manager. Hmmm….

So I had his Udon, which is this:

This is much better, even though the portion WC gave me were almost finished, I ate it anyway.

Then our sashimi dish arrived!

I was kinda disappointed as the salmon turned out to be smoked. But oh well. Just ate them anyway. I also had the raw prawn and ate it together with the egg ball dish thingy..

And then..

I felt it. The food just suddenly came up to my throat, and I was struggling to swallow them back over and over. I mean, come on, the place was full of people, and this couple in front of me were looking at us many times, so I didn’t want to just chuck my food out on the floor in front of everyone, right??

So I struggled to drink my hot ocha over and over, and kept on massaging my throat, praying that I wouldn’t embarrass myself in front of all these people. But a few minutes later, I couldn’t stand it and asked WC to accompany me to the washroom to get everything out of my system.

So yup. My very first experience of puking at a mall’s public washroom.. at a new mall at that summore! I wondered what dish exactly that made my tummy feel horrible. Perhaps it was the combination of the egg and raw prawn…

Well, that’s the first and the last time I’m gonna go to Sushi King. Another bad experience recorded on Caneeliea’s book! Sigh..

Maybe I just don’t get along with Sushi King huh? I guess I’ll just stick to other Japanese restaurants and bear with other restaurants’ pricey sushi dishes.. oh well.

P/S.. WC had a bad experience with the sashimi too.. think he had the abalone(?).. the yellow blog thingy on the sashimi plate, and even he himself almost puked his food out. Dayum… I guess we both tidak ngam with Sushi King!

Small talk: This is totally random, but I wonder where I could get some funky clip on earrings here in KK.. not for me, but for somebody who doesn’t have her ears pierced. Looks like I gotta go window shopping!
