KK Jazz Fest @ 1Borneo (Part 2)

24 Jun

** Continuation from KK Jazz Fest @ 1Borneo (Part 1) **

Okay, so here’s Part 2 of the KK Jazz Fest, which was held on 21 June ’08 at 1Borneo!

After Paul Ponnudurai’s performance, came Greg Lyons and his saxophone!

They sure did their best of trying to get the audiences to their feet and dancing! I myself couldn’t stand still and take their pics! LOL..

Obviously we all didn’t stay till the end. I missed seeing the Mayor grooving to the music! Argh!..

But oh well.

~~~~~~
And okay.. here are 2 of my main complaints on the event:
  1. Why in the world did they held the event right in the middle of a mall?? We feel silly buying the tickets when other people walking by could just watch for free! Venue is all wrong this year!
  2. The rotary member (which I will not say who) was rudely wanting us to move back to get some space for people dancing in front. I admit, we were among the photogs there at the front row which we didn’t pay for the tickets, and solely because of that, I didn’t say anything to that rude person. But how about those behind us who DID paid for the RM100 tickets? They were rudely asked to move back too! I mean like, WTF? You guys should’ve thought about the dancing space before the event, what!! And I lost mood on the event, and left not long after that. Messy arrangements for this year’s KK Jazz Fest man!
Let’s all hope that next year’s event will be much better, yeah?
    I totally agree with both your comments Jacq.
    Organisers should have just stuck to Jesselton Point, having DIGI as their main sponsor like in 2007 instead of going for the tempting sponsorships given by 1 Borneo. Venue contributes alot to events like this in creating the right feel and ambience. Oh well lets hope they learn from this. Heard alot of sepctators left half way through the show.
    As always, great photos Jacq. Cheers!
    I was there that nite too at the 2nd KK Jazz fest …yes the venue really sucks (no ‘feel’)..but put it this way…it was raining like crazy earlier that nite, so Jesselton Point might have been a big disaster too. Anyway…1 Borneo…urgh… :( :( :(
    Here’s an idea…let’s ask SPARKs to re-instate it in Jesselton Point next year..those empty warehouses opposite the jetty would be ideal for KK Jazz fest!!
