2008 Sodop Unduk Ngadau
Hi guys! If you're new here, you should subscribe to my RSS feed. TQ for visiting! :)
So for the first time ever, I finally went to one of the Unduk Ngadau events at KDCA. I was given a free ticket, and I thought, heck, why not go and take some pics, right? I can eat the food there at the same time as well! Haha..

The view from where I sat, which is useless for somebody like me who’s short sighted
I was seated at a table with bro and my cousins, and their workmates to the left side of the hall. I couldn’t complain, since I was there for free..

I mean, at least I was closer to the stage as compared to those people at the back, right?
But anyways, the emcees that night were:

DJ Constantine, and my ex-lecturer, Jennifer Lasimbang!
And right after the speeches were made by a few VIPs, the cultural show came next:
And the food was then served one-by-one:

The food was ok-ok lah. I couldn’t really concentrate on eating as I had to leave my seat to go closer to the stage to take pics, and change my lens back and forth all the time.. sheesh..
Oh well..
The performers were..

Rich of Estranged (the camera-man sempat lagi focused on Velvet for a few seconds when Rich was singing haha!)
And also..

The finalists and past winner of the Sugondoi. The little girl (right pic) is only 8 years old, and yet she has a deep voice! I’m sure everyone was like, whoa..! These 3 are sure talented!
Also, there was a magic show from a local guy:

Not bad lah him! I love magic shows, so I concentrated fully on this guy’s performance! He turned fire into a bird lah, made the stool (or was it a mini table?) float in mid air lah, made his assistant go through him lah, and also cut his assistant in half lah.. Syoks!
Then it was time for the Unduk Ngadau ladies to come out and say hi..

As I was on the side of the hall, most of them didn’t look at me
But it’s okay..
My favourite is this:

The Unduk Ngadau DBKK, Ms. Jizeresta Jimmy, simply because she was the ONLY one who really looked at me and posed! TQ!! LOL!

I didn’t join the rest of the photogs in front like bennyliew and pirut etc, and just stood at the side of the hall only.. malas lah go there with them.. too many people around. Next time lah.
But from where I was at, I also managed to take these pics lah:

That’s my cousin holding the fan! Hehe..

Here she is again, this time helping out with the grand prize giving. The winner got an LG 32″ LCD tv! I want also lah!! Huhu..
Also..

Hey, it’s another cousin of mine, Danny Malinggi!
Then right before we left, the previous Unduk Ngadau, Jo-Ann Sue Healy Rampas went on stage. Man, she really is pretty! I really didn’t know that the Hotlink girl was her! How cool!

And her Dusun was straight! Very kelat (thick?) punya Dusun! I’m impressed! And have you all heard her songs before? They’re really quite nice! You can click here to listen her song Koupusan online!
~~~~~~
We left before the event ended; we didn’t want to get stuck in the jam later on. Clever us huh?
Now, there’s the finals of the Unduk Ngadau on 31st May to look forward to! I’m gonna try and go and take better pics on that day!
Ive always bowed down to those beautiful unduks who speak their kadazan dusun like water. I mean, to be a Huminodun, one of the criteria that one must have is the ability to speak fluently the kadusmurut language.For that, I have my respect for Jo-ann. An almost true Huminodun in my eyes.
Im goin on the 31st as well but more as an audience.
I think you went to what’s also called Gala Nite. I think only available guys should go to these events
The DJs were speaking in what language?
You mean Velvet AF4 was there too? I somehow became close to her last year hahaha
I think the DBKK UNduk Ngadau should go down in history as the tallest one ever! She’s my colleague’s daughter.
Correction: Jo-Anna Sue Henley Rampas. Of all the previous UNduk Ngadaus, she could be the best of them all cos she could speak Kadus like water, plus she could sing extremely well.
elfiejane, wow that’s a LONG time! LOL!..
chegu carol, yes yes I agree with you! Some don’t even speak the language and yet they pandai enter this Unduk Ngadau. Riduculous IMO.. maybe I’ll see ya there?
Kay Kastum, wow belum?? uiseh.. tengkiu!
ben, Oh sorry, I forgot to mention the Gala Nite name. Only available guys should go to these events? You’re saying I shouldn’t have gone? But I don’t see why not. The DJs were speaking mostly in English, but some in Malay. And yes, Velvet was there as well. Jo-Anna? The DJs intro’d her as Jo-Ann and so is the book, listed her name as Jo-Ann? Also her songs online, her name’s spelt with Jo-Ann?
JACQ:
About “only available guys should go to these events”, my description shouldn’t include photographers/journalists
I think it should be Jo-Anna and not Jo-Ann cos she herself participated in undukngadau.com and that’s the name she wrote. Also Benny Liew has worked personally with her at undukngadau.com and she wrote her name as Jo-Anna
