First Time At The Murut Cultural Centre

24 Apr

** Continuation from Daytrip to Where I Was Born **

After parents had some work done at Keningau, we then headed over to Tenom for more work purposes. And I managed to ask Dad to stop over at the Murut Cultural Centre as well! Wheeeeee!

Since I’m part Murut as well, of course I wanted to check out this place, and I wanted to show WC part of my culture back in the days too

Some preparations were being done for the Kalimaran Festival on the 26th & 27th April 2008

All the buildings were made of ‘Kayu Belian’ or ironwood. This wood can last for more than 100 years! How cool!

The Lansaran: an indoor trampoline place made of rattan. Click *here* to see a pic of the Murut Lansaran Dance. I used to love jumping up and down this thing back in the days! It was closed though when we were there.. :(

Where else did I go on my daytrip? Stay tuned for my next post! ;)

Daytrip To Back Where I Was Born!

23 Apr

Can y’all guess which town I went today? If you don’t know, it’s okay, you’ll know by the end of this post!

Anyway, Dad and WC wanted to go to kampung to settle some business, so Mom and I tagged along. How could I miss this trip, right?? I haven’t been back to kampung in a LONG time!

The driver, mi papa

It was WC and my first time experiencing the Kimanis road, and OMG, it’s so high up! You really need a 4WD to be able to use this road, especially if your car is full of people!

DSCN8357
See the uphill road? There are lots of it on this Kimanis road! I didn’t know!

It’s a good thing we used Dad’s 4WD too, because there was a stretch of construction on the road where a recent landslide had hit!

If normal sedan car, confirm nangis man your car!! What more if it’s raining, you’ll be spending a night on this road! (so steep and slippery lah if raining ni!)

With all those bump from the bad road, we stopped at this place called Dimie Pedalaman Resort sometime afterwards for some drinks:

This is the place! We all like it! So breezy and not hot at all there! No need fan or aircon there!

WC was so geram of this cat and despite getting scratched by it, WC still kept on wanting to play with it! LOL!

I, on the other hand, focused my attention on these 2 puppies! So cute! They barked at me, but in the end, mau manja juga! Haha!

Then we continued with out journey, and I saw this:

Sabah Had An Earth Day Too

22 Apr

Well, more or less lah.. since there was a blackout to about half of Sabah (or was it more than that?) last night!

I freaked out at the long blackout, mainly because of my newly bought fishies!

fishies.jpg
Yup, I’ve restocked my fishies yesterday afternoon, after most of them had died of old age (gotta keep the feng shui goin’, y’know..)

But then, come nighttime.. like I said just now, there was a long blackout, to which I found out that quite a lot of other towns in Sabah also experienced at the same time! So of course, I was very worried of my adopted fishies, even though I had an emergency oxygen thingy that runs on batteries for them!

But phew.. luckily they all turned out fine! :)

Sabah experienced Earth Hour last night (it lasted hours though!) Haha..

reading-in-the-dark.jpg
Dad was lying on the couch and reading the newspaper when the blackout happened. After we had gotten the candles up and burning, he took one and continued reading! LOL..

Whereas WC and I accompanied my dogs outside, and brought chairs and sat on the front yard enjoying the natural breeze.

And whoa.. we noticed this cool sky! (well, I thought it was cool anyway; the line near the moon)

My doggies slept near our feet, and since I was busy taking pics, WC had a short nap too. But around 1/2 hour later, we went back inside when we realised that we were meals for the mosquitoes!

Luckily the electricity turned back on a few minutes before WC and I left to pick up my bro from the airport! Yeay! (I don’t like driving without any electricity, especially at night, that’s why!)
