‘08 Family Outing & Lagoon Park, Karambunai

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

The last family holiday with my family was during Christmas in December ‘07, and on this CNY, since everybody’s on a holiday anyway (and younger bro is back in KK) I thought, why not we do something together as a family? A roadtrip for example, like how we used to do when we were younger!

Everybody agreed to join, though they were a bit skeptical as to what the plans were (I didn’t tell them much, except that we were going somewhere near Karambunai lol..)

Well, WC and I (with parents) in one car, and my 2 bros in another car, we left the house at 10.30am. And reached this place at Jalan Sulaman:

The Lokan and Kelapa Bakar, and pudding place again! My parents haven’t been here in a LONG time, so they were delighted (I hope) that we’ve brought them there! Oh, and younger bro haven’t been to this place before, and haven’t tried the lokan at all, so this was his first time!

Only dad ordered the Kelapa Bakar (don’t know how he could stand the heat of the drink) while the rest of us ordered either the coconut pudding or the drink itself. WC also ordered 2 big trays of the Lokan Bakar.

When the food arrived:

Younger bro: Okay, so how do we eat this?

Me: You eat it with the sambal and the kicap and the limau. But the most important thing is the sambal. Lot’s and lot’s of it!

Younger bro: Okaaayyy.. *thinking it would taste horrible*

But a few minutes later:

Younger bro: Eh, not bad also lah this lokan. (asking everyone) You guys want this??

LOL.. Okay anyway, when everyone finished their food and drinks, we then headed over to the Lagoon Park in Karambunai. None of us have actually been inside of this park before (sad, right?), so we were all curious as to what kind of activities we could do there.

Since all of us didn’t bring our swimsuits, or anything there for that matter, we just continued to walk around and just enjoyed the view. We were lucky that we were there that day instead of other days, as it were peaceful and not too many people. Were told that just a day before, there was a huge group of tourists there for the whole day, so the place were swarmed with people!

What I also like about this place is that not only you can bring your own food there, you can also sleep there overnight and have a bbq fest!

We’d surely come back to try out the activities there one of these days. I just hope WC can find the time soon so that we can go! I’m very excited to try out all the activities! ;)

It’s also nice to know (even though I know it’s been here for quite a while now) that we don’t need to go all the way to the islands just to enjoy the water activities. We can just do it here at the Lagoon Park! And even stay there overnight! (You hafta bring your own tent etc though.. they dont exactly have Condo Hotels or anything there hehe..) :)

Okay, back to my family outing. After we were tired of going around the park, we’d decided to go for lunch on our way home. We didn’t want to eat at Salut or the nearby restaurants as we know they’d hike up the price during public holidays. So we went to the next best thing: McDonalds. Eating fast food with family on a holiday. Now that’s something for us! LOL..

And since at that time it was already around 2+pm, we called it a day and head on home. Simple and easy outing, but fun nevertheless!
