My First Attempt At Star Effect

30 Dec

Hi guys! If you're new here, you should subscribe to my RSS feed. TQ for visiting! :)

Before this, usually when I take night pics, the lights in the pics would usually end up with just a round, blob looking thingy.

But my bro in-law, who’s more experienced in photography, taught me how to get those star effects on my lights during our recent family holiday. So manual settings on camera: check! Tripod: also check!

Then we all headed outside the lodge for my practical:

This is with the help of my intructor hehe..

And this is my own attempt. So yeay! I finally did it!

Such a noob kan me.. just found out about this lol..

Day 2 of My 2007 Christmas Holiday (Cont’d)

29 Dec

Continuation from my previous post..

So after lunch, we all walked over to Poring, but not without having a little drama from one of my nieces at the entrance.. that’s another story altogether, so won’t be mentioned here.

Our time at Poring Hot Spring

Upon reaching the pool and tubs, we were appalled that the place were filled with people! I’ve never seen this place so packed before! But luckily, dad did a booking on the private bath tubs for us, and after waiting for about 2 hours, we did manage to soak ourselves in the hot spring water for RM15 (1 hour rate for standard room).

Then, on our way back, we stopped over at Kundasang for some veggie shopping to bring back home:

In case you STILL don’t know, this is THE place to get cabbages, as they sell tons and tons of it! A lot of fruits on the opposite side of the road, too!

But what really caught my eye, were the Christmas plants, the Poinsettia plant! So red! Nice!

But of course, other purplish flowers caught my eyes too..

But sorry, I don’t know the names of each of the flowers..

Nothing much happened that night; after dinner, us siblings and Wei Chuen played Cho Tai Ti (a card game for four) while drinking Plum wine. Yummy! But I only won once, and that was fluke. Gosh I suck. :(

So that’s day two of my holiday!

Day 2 of My 2007 Christmas Holiday

28 Dec

So.. continuation from my previous post..

On day 2, which was Christmas Day itself, the whole family woke up quite early, and I dragged Wei Chuen out of bed to accompany me to take pics of the mountain. And it turned out that everybody wanted to go outside as well for a walk before having breakfast, so we all took the back (and very steep) way up to Balsam Cafe.

The steep shortcut route, and another pic of clear Mt.Kinabalu

The walk sure was a good way to work up our appetite, because by the time we reached the cafe, we were all tired and hungry!

You can either order a la carte or the buffet breakfast (RM25++). We all ordered a la carte, except for Wei Chuen, the only person who took the buffet.

My very little a la carte breakfast. The mee was very yummy, but so little quantity. Got hungry only an hour later

The cashier totally screwed up on our bill; the management of the cafe should really look into the way the staff take note on the customers’ orders; whether they’re ordering a la carte or buffet. They should have a better way to serve the food to the a la carte customers as well so as not to confuse with the buffet customers.

But never mind. After breakfast, we all walked back to the lodge, this time using the main road to go there, as it’s much easier and there won’t be any risk of any of us slipping down the steep hill if using the previous way.

When we reached back to the lodge, we rested a bit, then got ready to go to Poring!

Then as we reached there, luckily we got a parking inside the park itself, as they were SO many cars there that day (school holidays and all)! And by then, it was already lunchtime, so we had lunch on the nearby restaurant called Round Inn:

The interesting looking restaurant and inn

And this is what I had:

My order: Wat tan ho (RM6 I think)

OMG you guys should really try their wat tan ho there. It was delicious! Highly recommended! Rest of family ordered mees and rice, and after trying on the food, it’s better to say that mee cooking is their specialty.

(to be continued..)

Morning Walk Is Good For You

27 Dec
DSCN5366.jpg

Especially when you’re at Kundasang! And when you stay at Kinabalu Park, you can bring your whole family to go for the walk early in the morning before going for breakfast. Very good for the health, plus you get to see and take pics like these too:

and if you bring your own tripod, you can..
