Opening Day Of KAC Skating Rink

19 Aug

Did any of you go to the skating rink yesterday? I didn’t know that it was the official opening today, and luckily a friend of mine told me that it was yesterday! I imagined that the rink would be filled with people as skating yesterday was FOC, so I put my visit off till the evening.

So arrived there around 7pm, and started taking pics!

There were a lot of people there, all right, but on the rink itself, was this:

Yup, nobody was on the rink, except for some of the staff, trying to keep people off of the rink or whatever. I find it funny that this one particular staff doesn’t even know how to skate and yet she was on the rink, moving along veryyy slow, afraid of falling down. And another staff landed flat on her butt, too.. how embarrassing, because a lot of people are watching them! And there’s this ‘picture-wall’ that showed all the staff and bosses’ pics taken while skating, and true enough, the same staff who fell down earlier even have her pic taken while falling down pasted on there! LOL..

Was there some sort of game going on before I arrived? Looks like an ice hockey team or something..

Some people just lepak-ing, and didn’t know what to do since they couldn’t skate..

The counter to get the skates.. you can choose either ice skates, roller blades, or a combo of err.. roller/ice skates?

The admission fees

I was so looking forward of skating last night, but I waited and waited and waited, and then got frustrated, and just left the place. Guess I’d hafta go another time, then..

Probably the best policy is to wait until all the hoo-haa had calmed down first.

JACQ:  yup, you’re right on that ben..

I feel so lost.. I didn’t even hear about this one until I stumbled upon Massy’s page. But thanks for the pictures.. so it’s not an ICE skating rink, huh?? OH well, at least it’s SOMETHING.. KK is gonna be the IT place to be, methinks in the next couple of years.

JACQ:  Really?? You didn’t hear about this before? My clients, the aunty2 one even called me up and asking me whether I’ll be checking out the opening of the KAC! Even I terkejut lol.. and about the IT place to be, I sure hope so! ;)

too many people n too small rink… not enough shoes lagi.

Guess we should try it out maybe another time huh?

JACQ:  yea the rink IS small. I didn’t know there weren’t enough shoes though. I wanted to get a pair but the counter were filled with people demanding for shoes, so I didn’t wanna deal with all that. So I guess, yea, another time lah..

i thought DE said the following: The biggest ice rink in Malaysia: 4000sq feet of ice rink area, max 120 ppl can go on at one time, use swiss 3S tech.

I dunno but about 60ft x 60ft seems quite small.

Of course cant compare with overseas ones – last time i went ice skating was many years ago and the place was easily like 100 ft x 100 ft.

JACQ:  It’s actually the biggest smart ice rink in Malaysia. And yes, it IS very small.. sigh..

although it’s nt real ice, but i pretty mch enjoyed skating last week. d onli think i dun like abt tis place is their service. they onli make a few pairs 4 each sizes, so ppl who wna choose their own size wil hav 2 wait othr ppl finis skating then thy cn hav it. my fren cant wait cz of tis then thy jz lari. poor service la.. wish thy cn improve on dat. nway it wuz fun bt shud becareful cz it’s quite slippery n u might fall hard. xP
    peace.. =)

JACQ:  Give it time. It’s still new, I wouldn’t expect there are enough shoes for everyone as well.. and yes, it’s supposed to resemble an ice skating rink, so it is slippery, just be careful how you fall haha..

That’s sad… wasn’t the rink open to the public then? Maybe they had to clear people out afterwards, I came at around 5pm to cover the opening and the lines were incredible, since, like KAC told us, trial runs on the rink were free, or at least for that night. Like everyone said, best to wait for the excitement to die down.

Somehow, I get the feeling that I know you. We might have common friends, or it might have been for work. I don’t think that any mutual contacts we might have would be very happy about having their names all over the net, though. Maybe we can have coffee one of these days and compare notes. For the record, I think you’re a Cool Chick™.

Mind if I link you and ask for a link back? :D
